COPPA Compliance

Last updated: October 20, 2025

MathMe is committed to protecting the privacy and safety of children who use our application. This page outlines how we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Important: MathMe is designed for children aged 7 and older. We take special measures to ensure the safety and privacy of our young users in accordance with COPPA requirements.

1. What is COPPA?

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a U.S. federal law that protects the privacy of children under 13 years of age. It requires operators of online services to:

  • Obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from children
  • Provide parents with notice of their information practices
  • Give parents access to their child's personal information
  • Allow parents to delete their child's personal information
  • Maintain the confidentiality, security, and integrity of information collected from children

2. How MathMe Complies with COPPA

2.1. No Personal Information Collection

MathMe does NOT collect any personally identifiable information (PII) from users of any age, including:

  • Name or username
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Physical address
  • Date of birth
  • Photos or videos
  • Social security number
  • Geolocation information

2.2. No Account Creation Required

MathMe works completely without requiring users to create an account or provide any personal information. All progress and statistics are stored locally on the user's device.

2.3. Data Collected

The only data we may collect is anonymous, non-personal information that cannot be used to identify individual users:

  • App usage statistics (number of problems solved, time spent in app)
  • Technical information (device model, OS version, app version)
  • Crash reports and error logs for app improvement

This information is collected solely to improve app performance and user experience.

2.4. Local Data Storage

All user progress, achievements, and settings are stored locally on the device. This data is NOT transmitted to our servers unless the user explicitly enables the optional cloud synchronization feature.

2.5. Parental Controls

We recommend that parents or guardians:

  • Supervise children under 13 while using the app
  • Review app permissions before installation
  • Disable in-app purchases through device settings if needed
  • Contact us with any questions or concerns about their child's use of the app

3. Advertising and Third Parties

3.1. Advertisements (Free Version)

The free version of MathMe may display advertisements. We only work with advertising partners that:

  • Comply with COPPA regulations
  • Do not collect personal information from children
  • Do not use behavioral advertising targeted at children
  • Display only age-appropriate content

3.2. Premium Version

The premium subscription removes all advertisements, providing a completely ad-free experience for your child.

3.3. Third-Party Services

MathMe may use the following COPPA-compliant third-party services:

  • Analytics services (for anonymous usage data and app improvement)
  • Crash reporting tools (for technical error analysis)
  • Payment processors (App Store and Google Play for subscriptions)

All third-party services are carefully vetted to ensure COPPA compliance.

4. No External Links or Social Features

MathMe does not contain:

  • Links to external websites or social media
  • Chat or messaging features
  • User-generated content sharing
  • Social networking capabilities
  • Forums or comment sections

This ensures children cannot inadvertently share personal information or communicate with strangers.

5. Parental Rights Under COPPA

Parents and legal guardians have the right to:

  • Review any personal information collected from their child (though MathMe collects none)
  • Request deletion of their child's information
  • Refuse further collection or use of their child's information
  • Contact us with questions about our privacy practices

How to Exercise These Rights

Since MathMe does not collect personal information, there is no data to review or delete. However, if you have concerns or questions, please contact us at:

Email: mathme@mtnt-solutions.com

6. Offline Functionality

MathMe is fully functional without an internet connection. Children can use all core features offline, which:

  • Eliminates online privacy risks
  • Prevents accidental data transmission
  • Provides parents with peace of mind
  • Allows learning anywhere, anytime

7. In-App Purchases

MathMe offers a premium subscription, which requires parental authorization:

  • All purchases are processed through App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)
  • Both platforms require authentication before purchase
  • Parents can disable in-app purchases in device settings
  • We recommend parents use parental controls to prevent unauthorized purchases

8. Updates to COPPA Compliance

We regularly review and update our practices to ensure continued compliance with COPPA and other applicable laws. Any significant changes will be communicated through:

  • App update notifications
  • Updates to this COPPA Compliance page
  • Email notification (if applicable)

9. Age Verification

MathMe is rated for users aged 7 and older in app stores. We rely on:

  • App store age ratings and parental controls
  • Parental supervision for children under 13
  • Our privacy-first design that doesn't require age verification

10. Educational Purpose

MathMe is designed as an educational tool to help children develop mental math skills through:

  • Interactive practice exercises
  • Gamified learning experiences
  • Adaptive difficulty levels
  • Progress tracking (stored locally)

Our educational focus ensures age-appropriate content and activities.

11. Data Security

Even though we don't collect personal information, we maintain high security standards:

  • Regular security audits of the app

  • Encryption of any data transmitted (when using optional cloud sync)
  • Limited data retention policies
